Simply unzip, add cold water, zip it up, and give it a gentle squeeze. Then, lay the mat out to give your pet a place to cool off. Do not exceed capacity as this can cause excess water to leak out from the seams. Close zipper. Squeeze mat to distribute water evenly across the mat. Minor water seepage at the seams is normal. Place a towel under the mat if you are using it indoors to avoid direct contact with the floor. For extra cooling, place mat in the refrigerator. Remove mat for a few minutes before use. How it works: What is evaporative cooling and how does it work? Evaporative cooling is a natural process where water transitions from a liquid to vapour, absorbing heat from its surroundings and creating a cooling effect. The Cool Comfort Mat leverages this principle by featuring a super-absorbent interior layer that soaks in cold water. As this water gradually evaporates from the material, it carries away heat, delivering a sustained and effective cooling experience. How long does it last? The cooling effect lasts for approximately one hour, depending on temperature, weather conditions and other environmental factors. Generally, the evaporative cooling process performs best in hot and dry climates away from direct sunlight. High-humidity environments may hinder evaporation and limit the desired effect. How do I know when to re-wet? When the mat no longer feels cool, re-wet to reactivate the cooling effect. After each use, wipe the exterior clean as needed, turn mat inside out and hang to dry. For a deeper clean, make sure the zipper is fastened and machine wash in cold water with items of a similar colour, then turn mat inside out and hang to dry. Ensure mat is completely dry before storing.
