Title: “Generalkarte von Polen, Litauen, und den angraenzenden Laendern Nach Zannoni, Folin, Uz, Pfau etc. etc. Neu herausgegeben von F. A. Schraembl. MDCCLXXXVIII. ” Description: Rare, very large and detailed four sheets map of Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Belarus and portions of neighboring Germany and Russia. The map compiles data from famous contemporary European cartographers, explicitly crediting Rizzi-Zannoni, Bartolomeo de Folino, Theodor Philipp von Pfau, and Georg Friedrich Uz. Published in the late 18th century, it captures the changing political geography of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth during the era of the Partitions of Poland. The title cartouche featuring detailed text draped over a curtain-like banner flanked by two large eagles. The map comes from Franz Anton Schraembl atlas “Allgemeiner Grosser Atlas- hrgb. von Franz Anton Schraembl…” engraved by Heronimus Benedicti and published by Joseph Philipp Schalbacher in Viena, 1788.
