ES1 kinder UNIT 2 NSW PDHPE Movement, Relationships, Identity, physical activity, personal identity
This unit teaches students to build a strong sense of identity by exploring personal strengths, culture, place and family connections. They learn about safety symbols, practise fire safety behaviours and understand how to seek help in unsafe situations. In PE, students develop jumping and hopping skills and apply them in games that promote fair play, rule-following and the safe use of equipment. Students strengthen resilience, teamwork and interpersonal skills by practising persistence, empathy, problem-solving and responding to feedback. The PDHPE K–6 units are designed as a 16-lesson sequence, comprising of 8 PDH lessons and 8 PE lessons, with 4 optional consolidation lessons. The lessons are written in sequence to show the flow of learning and the building of concepts across lessons. To implement the syllabus and meet teaching requirements, teachers are expected to teach one PDH and one PE lesson each week. It is important at the start of each lesson that you read the teaching notes as there is some Lesson preparation needed for some lessons. These include printing sets of cards in some lessons, printing worksheets for assessment purposes so that work samples are available for each child. Some things you will need for this unit: writing materials Back on Country by Adam Goodes and Ellie Laing (optional) ball of yarn large chart or butcher's paper for class mural Age appropriate Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait islander story hoops beanbags braids or bibs buckets cones coloured markers chalk clipboards coloured markers or stamps skipping ropes Important note The font which has been used in this presentation is the Google font Edu NSW ACT foundation which needs to be downloaded onto your computer (this can be done by clicking on the blue link provided). You must restart your device once installed and all of the formatting will be correctly in place. This step is VERY important otherwise your units will be misaligned.
