ONE ROAST SERIES #12 Madagascar Washed Soavinandriana

Coffee lovers, this is what you've been waiting for. If you love to try new coffees and are always looking for something new and exciting, we have a subscription for you. Each month we will roast a new coffee. The catch, we are only doing ONE ROAST of it. Once it's roasted and sold out, it's not coming back. It's going to be an exciting and adventurous coffee each time! For June 2026, we have a coffee produced in the Itasy region of central Madagascar, this coffee is the result of a collaboration between approximately 40 smallholder farmers organized through the Madagascar Coffee Company. Grown near Soavinandriana at elevations around 1,400 meters above sea level, the coffee reflects the unique agricultural landscape of Madagascar, where producers cultivate coffee on small plots alongside a diverse mix of crops. Following harvest, the Red and Yellow Bourbon cherries undergo a moderate-intervention washed process, including dry fermentation, depulping, underwater fermentation, washing, and drying on raised beds. This meticulous approach helps create consistency and clarity while highlighting the distinctive character of one of the world's most uncommon coffee origins. In the cup, this coffee is mild, approachable, and delicately layered, offering notes of sweet herbal tea, green grape, toffee, and caramel. Additional hints of apricot, lemongrass, raw sugar, and agave contribute to a nuanced sweetness and gentle complexity. The profile is clean and refined, with a tea-like body and bright clarity that shines particularly well as a pour-over. The result is an elegant and distinctive coffee that showcases both the promise of Madagascar's emerging specialty coffee sector and the dedication of the farmers behind it.
