Mechanical Breaching & Dynamic CQB 2 Day. Harrisburg P.A. November 21-22
Breach Point: Mechanical Breaching & SIM CQB Duration: 2 Days Format: Open Enrollment Training Type: SIM/UTM Only Live Fire: No live fire Breaching Type: Mechanical breaching only Low-Light Training: Included Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate Prerequisite: Safe weapons handling and prior basic firearms training recommended Course Intent Breach Point: Mechanical Breaching & SIM CQB is a 2-day, open-enrollment course designed to introduce and develop students in mechanical breaching fundamentals and SIM/UTM-based structure work. This course focuses on the safe, practical, and controlled application of mechanical breaching tools in a training environment, followed by SIM/UTM-based CQB scenarios that allow students to apply movement, communication, low-light problem solving, and post-breach entry concepts without live fire. Students will work individually and in teams while learning how breaching fits into close-quarters problem solving, team movement, communication, low-light movement, and structure-based decision-making. This course is designed for responsible civilians, law enforcement, and military personnel looking to build a stronger understanding of mechanical breaching and CQB integration in a controlled training environment. Course Format This is a SIM/UTM-only course. There will be no live-fire training during this class. All structure-based work will be conducted using SIM/UTM platforms, inert training weapons, or approved training weapons as directed by the instructors. Mechanical breaching will be conducted using approved tools and training doors or designated breach points. Low-light repetitions will be conducted using white light, handheld lights, weapon-mounted lights, or instructor-approved lighting equipment. Safety Protocol Safety is the priority for this course. All students will receive a safety brief prior to training. Instructors will inspect weapons, gear, SIM/UTM equipment, lights, tools, and training areas before exercises begin. Any student deemed unsafe in their handling, decision-making, muzzle awareness, tool control, communication, or overall conduct may be removed from training at instructor discretion. KDS reserves the right to restrict, modify, or terminate participation for any student who fails to meet the safety standard. Learning Objectives By the end of this course, students will have been introduced to and developed in: Mechanical breaching fundamentals Breaching tool selection and safe handling Ram, sledgehammer, and Halligan use Breacher and team positioning Communication before, during, and after the breach Post-breach entry considerations SIM/UTM-based CQB movement 2-man and 4-man structure movement Hallway and room problem-solving Low-light movement and communication White light use in structure-based environments Light/no-light decision-making Team accountability inside a structure Decision-making under stress Breach-to-entry sequencing Scenario-based problem-solving After-action review and performance feedback Course Outline Day 1 – Mechanical Breaching Fundamentals & Structure Movement Morning Block – Safety, Setup, and Fundamentals Student In-Processing Student check-in Safety and medical brief Gear inspection SIM/UTM verification Training weapon inspection Light inspection Instructor introductions Course expectations and standards Mechanical Breaching Fundamentals Students will be introduced to the basic principles of mechanical breaching, including: Breaching safety Tool control Breacher positioning Team positioning Communication Breach sequencing Post-breach movement Common problems and corrections Mechanical Breaching Tools Students will work with common mechanical breaching tools, including: Ram Sledgehammer Halligan Pry tools Additional instructor-approved breaching tools Students will learn safe handling, basic application, and how to work around a breach point while maintaining team awareness. Midday Block – Mechanical Breaching Practical Application Students will conduct practical mechanical breaching repetitions using designated training doors or breach points. Training will focus on: Tool selection Approach to the breach point Communication with the team Controlled tool work Maintaining awareness during breaching Moving from breach to entry Team flow after access is made Students will rotate through breacher and team member roles to understand the full process from multiple positions. Afternoon Block – SIM/UTM Structure Movement Students will transition into SIM/UTM-based structure work, focusing on: 2-man movement 4-man movement Room entry concepts Hallway movement Corner-fed and center-fed room problems Communication inside the structure Threat identification Team accountability Muzzle awareness and safe weapons handling Evening / Low-Light Block – White Light Reps Students will conduct controlled low-light repetitions using white light and SIM/UTM platforms. Training will focus on: White light safety Handheld and weapon-mounted light considerations Light discipline Light/no-light movement Communication in low-light environments Threat identification under reduced visibility Breach-to-entry movement in low light 2-man and 4-man low-light structure reps Instructor-led AARs after each evolution End-of-Day Review Day 1 will conclude with: Safety check Gear accountability Instructor-led review Student questions Key lessons from mechanical breaching repetitions Key lessons from low-light repetitions Preparation points for Day 2 scenarios Day 2 – Breach-to-Entry Integration & SIM/UTM Scenarios Morning Block – Review and Warm-Up Students will begin Day 2 with a review of Day 1 material. Focus areas include: Safety review SIM/UTM equipment check Mechanical breaching tool review Light review Breacher/team communication Team positioning Movement refresher Dry breach-to-entry walkthroughs Midday Block – Breach-to-Entry Drills Students will apply the mechanical breaching process into SIM/UTM structure scenarios. Training will include: Breach team setup Breacher communication Mechanical breach execution Post-breach movement Entry flow Problem-solving inside the structure Team-based decision-making Instructor-led AARs after each run Students will rotate through different roles to gain exposure as the breacher, team member, and supporting element.
