Zion Canyon 2026 Watercolor Workshop!

Welcome Reception: November 5th, 7:30 PM Workshop: November 6th-8th Registration: $310 Zion Canyon in Southern Utah is a breathtaking display of nature’s artistry—towering sandstone cliffs in hues of red, pink, and cream rise above the winding Virgin River, which is lined with lush greenery and, in November, bursts of golden autumn foliage. It’s truly an artist’s paradise. If you’ve never been, you’re in for an unforgettable experience. Join nationally recognized watercolorist Carl Purcell for three inspiring days of plein air painting in one of the most stunning landscapes in the American Southwest. The workshop is designed for artists of all skill levels who want to improve their ability to see, simplify, and capture the essence of nature in watercolor. Workshop Overview: Each day begins with indoor instruction and live demonstrations at 9:30 a.m., focusing on value, composition, and expressive brushwork. Then we’ll head into Zion National Park to paint on location, using your sketchbook and paints to respond to the incredible environment around us. For those who prefer to stay nearby, the lodge itself offers sweeping views of canyon cliffs and the Virgin River—perfect for painting in comfort. The day wraps up with a group critique and Q&A session back at the conference room at 5:00 p.m. A welcome reception on Thursday evening, November 5th, at 7:30 p.m.will include light refreshments and a special painting demonstration by Carl to kick off the workshop.
