Custom Shure Small Shell Bullet Mic, 1949 Shure Black Label CR Element
Vintage September 1949 Shure Controlled-Reluctance Element Black Label Model 99H86 9-49 Rare Original Shure Small Bullet Shell Awesome tonal range from deep lows when cupped, and bright miss with lots of crunch! High-Impedance Harmonica Microphone Integrated Volume Control Premium Knurled VC Knob Fully Tested and Working This is a very nice original Shure Small Shell that’s been powder-coated, freshly-chromed, newly rewired, with a new Switchcraft cable connector, premium volume control knob, custom element gasket, and a really great-sounding Black Label Controlled-Reluctance element from September 1949. Sadly, the original Shure crystal element finally failed and I replaced it with the Black Label. Tone-wise, this mic has great distortion when cupped, and a bright, loud sound uncupped. Really one of the best I’ve rebuilt. The grill on this baby is bright, excellent condition show-chromed finished. Pay careful attention to the photographs. There a flaw in the powder coat. Just behind the grill on the shell. You have to look closely to see the flaw, and it doesn’t effect the tone, but it’s there and you should know it before you buy. Looks and sounds simply awesome. The mic features: – Strong 1949 Shure 99H86 9-49 element – Black Label Controlled-Reluctance – Integrated Volume Control – Premium Volume Control Knob – Switchcraft 5/8” screw-on connector – 1205 Ohms, Strong element – Custom stainless steel mesh – Powder coated with gloss topcoat by Jeffrey Spoor
