Malachite, Chrysocolla ("Malacholla") Democratic Republic of the Congo (Polished Slab) Dimensions: 7.0 x 4.5 x 3.4 cm A polished section of malachite displaying concentric growth structures. Across the principal face, rounded botryoidal forms have been cut in cross-section, revealing nested rings of saturated emerald, deep green, and nearly black-green. Each formation records successive stages of mineral deposition, producing patterns that range from tight bull's-eyes to broad, undulating bands. The unpolished sides and back contains matrix of Chrysocolla, creating the characteristic variety known today as "Malacholla".
