Watching him play what could be his last World Cup was nothing short of hard-hitting. Everyone seemed to be creating their own tribute to the legend, and I found myself thinking why not create my own perspective on him? Creating a painting at the last minute would have been almost impossible, so instead, I chose to work with mixed media. It gave me the freedom to bring together the different elements I wanted to represent, the legend, the moment, the culture, and everything that makes this story bigger than football. This piece is my way of looking at a player who has become much more than just a player. A little bit of football. A little bit of India. And my own perspective on a legend witnessing what may be his final World Cup.
