Ecothrive Soil Food Bloom is an organic powdered top-dress amendment designed to replenish living soil as plants move into the flowering and fruiting stage. Rather than being mixed into a nutrient tank like a conventional liquid bloom feed, Soil Food Bloom is applied directly to the surface of the growing medium. It provides additional phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium and other supporting nutrients while helping maintain the biological activity that living soil systems depend on. It is designed particularly for growers using Ecothrive Living Soil or other biologically active organic soil systems where nutrients are gradually replenished as the plant uses them. Key features Designed for flowering and fruiting: formulated with lower nitrogen and increased phosphorus and potassium compared with Ecothrive Soil Food Grow. Organic powdered top dress: applied directly to the soil rather than mixed into an irrigation reservoir. Supports living soil biology: organic inputs help provide nutrition while supporting the microbial processes involved in nutrient cycling. Contains potassium lignosulphonate: a source of potassium and fulvic compounds used to support nutrient availability. Contains Ecothrive Charge: mealworm frass is included as part of the blend to support biological activity in the root zone. Suitable for pots and soil beds: designed for established plants growing in organic soil systems. Typical nutrient analysis Nitrogen (N): 2% Phosphorus (P2O5): 8% Potassium (K2O): 6% Calcium: 10% Magnesium: 1% Sulphur: 2.5% Fulvic acids: 2.5% This nutrient balance reflects the changing requirements of flowering and fruiting plants, with less emphasis on nitrogen-driven vegetative growth and greater provision of phosphorus and potassium. What's in Ecothrive Soil Food Bloom? The formulation combines several organic and mineral inputs selected to work within a biologically active soil system. Potassium lignosulphonate: supplies potassium together with fulvic compounds that can assist nutrient availability within the growing medium. Mealworm frass: the Ecothrive Charge component of the formula, used to support microbial activity and nutrient cycling. Gypsum: provides calcium and sulphur. Magnesium sulphate: provides magnesium and additional sulphur. Micronised rock phosphate: provides a source of phosphorus for the flowering and fruiting stage. If you already use Ecothrive Charge, Soil Food Bloom takes the same biological approach but combines mealworm frass with additional nutrition specifically selected for the reproductive stage of plant growth. How to use Ecothrive Soil Food Bloom For established indoor plants, Ecothrive recommends using 1 to 2g per litre of soil. Calculate the dose using the volume of soil contained within approximately the top 15cm of the pot or bed. Measure the required amount of Soil Food Bloom. Spread it evenly across the surface of the soil. Lightly scratch the powder into the top 2 to 4cm of growing medium. Water the soil after application. For plants in approximately 40 to 60 litre containers, Ecothrive recommends applying Soil Food Bloom during the early flowering or fruiting stage once flowers have started to form. Some longer-running plants may benefit from another application 2 to 3 weeks later. Ecothrive advises against applying further top dressings during the final 4 to 5 weeks before harvest. Outdoor application For established plants in garden soil, Ecothrive recommends applying approximately 100 to 200g per square metre. Spread the amendment over the soil surface, lightly work it into the top 2 to 4cm and water after application. For longer outdoor growing periods, applications can be repeated approximately every 4 to 6 weeks according to plant requirements and growing conditions. Why use a top-dress instead of a liquid bloom feed? Living soil is managed differently from a conventional hydroponic or bottled nutrient programme. Instead of trying to supply every nutrient directly through the irrigation water, the aim is to maintain a fertile growing medium and allow soil biology to continually process organic inputs into plant-available nutrition. Soil Food Bloom is designed around that approach. You add nutrition back to the soil as the plant begins using more phosphorus and potassium, rather than replacing the living soil system with a conventional liquid feeding programme. When should you use Soil Food Bloom? Use Soil Food Bloom when established plants begin producing flowers or fruit and the nutritional demand on the soil increases. How quickly additional nutrition is required depends on factors including container size, plant size, how long the plant has been growing and whether the soil has previously been reused. Smaller volumes of soil generally have less nutrient reserve than large containers and beds. Soil Food Grow, Bloom and Re-Gen explained The Ecothrive Soil Food range is intended to be used as a staged living soil management system rather than three products applied together. Soil Food Grow: replenishes nutrition during vegetative growth, with greater emphasis on nitrogen. Soil Food Bloom: used as plants transition into flowering and fruiting, with increased phosphorus and potassium. Soil Food Re-Gen: used between growing cycles to replenish and prepare depleted soil for reuse. The NPK Gardening Solutions take Ecothrive Soil Food Bloom makes most sense for growers who want to maintain a living soil system rather than move onto bottled mineral nutrients once plants start flowering. The important thing is not to treat it like a conventional PK booster. This is a dry soil amendment designed to feed the growing medium and work alongside its biological activity. Apply it as a measured top dress, water it in and allow the soil system to do the work. It is particularly useful in smaller pots, longer growing cycles or reused living soil where the nutrients originally contained in the growing medium are more likely to need replenishing. Choose Ecothrive Soil Food Bloom if you are growing in living soil and need a straightforward organic top dress for the flowering and fruiting stage.
