Masdevallia Hugh Rogers 'Stripes'
Masd. Hugh Rogers is a registered grex (RHS, 8 Oct 1993, originated by Stonehurst O.N., registered by M. Rathbone), combining two Bolivian/Peruvian high-altitude species: seed parent Masd. amabilis (northern/central Peru, 2,000–5,300 m) and pollen parent Masd. yungasensis (Bolivian Yungas cloud forest, 2,000–3,000 m). What to expect Flowers: Broad, rounded kite form with fused lateral sepals forming two large lobes, plus a single long, slender dorsal tail standing upright. Ground colour warm orange-red with darker pink-red veining. A bright yellow-orange throat with distinctive dark maroon markings at the column. One flower per stem. Growing notes Temperature: Cool growing, following both parents' high-altitude Andean/Bolivian cloud forest origin. Light: Bright filtered shade, no direct midday sun. Water: Keep evenly moist at all times — no pseudobulbs, do not allow to dry out. Humidity & air: High humidity with constant gentle air movement. Rainwater or RO water preferred. Shipping & condition Supplied as an established division. Buds and flowers cannot be guaranteed at time of shipping due to seasonal and environmental factors.
