SafeDescent™ Emergency Evacuation Stair Chair – 159kg
When stairs stand between someone and safety, every second counts. The SafeDescent™ Emergency Evacuation Stair Chair gives carers, facilities and families a fast, controlled way to move a person down stairs — without the risk of an unassisted manual carry, and without waiting for help that may not arrive in time. Serious Strength. Surprisingly Light. Built on a screw-reinforced aluminium alloy and steel frame, the SafeDescent™ confidently supports users up to 159kg — yet the chair itself weighs just 8kg. One person can lift it off its wall hook, unfold it and have someone seated and secured in under a minute. Why Carers & Facilities Choose the SafeDescent™ 159kg load capacity — robust aluminium alloy + steel construction with every joint reinforced by screws, suitable for larger users and those recovering from illness or surgery Three-point safety restraint — chest, thigh and calf straps keep the occupant firmly secured throughout the descent, dramatically reducing the risk of slips and falls Telescopic front lift handle — push-button length adjustment gives the front operator a safe, ergonomic grip at the right height, every time Two directional rubber wheels — glide smoothly along corridors, through doorways and across landings between flights of stairs Ultra-lightweight at 8kg — easy for a single carer to carry, deploy and re-stow Folds flat to just 18cm deep — stores neatly in a hallway cupboard, stairwell, vehicle boot or facility storage locker so it's always within reach Easy-clean 47 × 43cm seat — generous seating area that wipes down quickly between uses Who It's For The SafeDescent™ is a smart addition anywhere mobility-limited people and stairs share the same building: Aged care & retirement living — meet duty-of-care obligations for resident evacuation Multi-storey family homes — peace of mind for elderly parents or NDIS participants living upstairs Medical centres, clinics & allied health practices — safe patient movement when lifts are out of service Schools, churches & community facilities — practical emergency preparedness for visitors with limited mobility Patient transport & first responders — compact enough to live in the vehicle, tough enough for daily use How It Works Seat the occupant, fasten the chest, thigh and calf straps, and extend the front telescopic handle to a comfortable height. On stairs, a rear operator steers from the push handles while the front operator supports and guides via the lift handle for a smooth, controlled descent. Two operators are recommended when navigating stairs. On flat ground, the rear rubber wheels let one person move the occupant with ease.
