An extraordinary antique Persian Malayer runner with an elongated format suited to a gallery, hallway, or passage. Hand-knotted in the historic Malayer weaving tradition of western Iran, its intricate pattern has a beautiful architectural rhythm. With the irregularities, patina, and depth that come only with age, this is a storied and impossible-to-replicate collected piece. Dating to the late 19th century, it is woven from soft, naturally dyed hand-spun wool with an all-over Herati floral and boteh motif in muted earth tones, soft sage green, distressed taupe, and deep espresso brown.
