Fatima was adopted as a kitten back in 2020. Six years later, a local shelter called with unexpected news: a cat matching her microchip had just been surrendered with a large, untreated laceration on her back leg that needed immediate attention. The wound was too deep and at too high a risk of infection to stitch closed, so Fatima was started on wound care and antibiotics right away. She will need additional treatment, including topical care and oral medication, as veterinarians worked to keep the injury from becoming infected.
