Dogo Sodu Washed Coffee The Dogo Sodu washing station, owned by Mr. Morkata Shonora, is one of three processing sites he operates in Ethiopia’s Guji Zone. Surrounded by family-owned garden farms, the station receives ripe cherries grown at elevations of 1,950–2,350 masl in the Bule Hora woreda. Here, smallholder farmers cultivate traditional landrace varieties such as Badessa, Wolichu, and Kudhume alongside improved selections like 74110, 74112, and 74158. Shade trees such as Birbira, Wanza, and Acacia help preserve soil fertility, prevent erosion, and support the region’s biodiversity, creating an ideal ecosystem for specialty coffee. Guji Green Coffee Beans The Guji Zone, part of the Oromia region, has become one of Ethiopia’s most renowned coffee-growing areas, celebrated for its distinct cup profiles and high-altitude terroir. Dogo Sodu coffees benefit from rich, fertile soils, cool temperatures, and long cherry maturation, resulting in dense beans packed with flavor. Expect a profile that combines floral and fruity aromatics with sweet, herbal undertones and layers of milk chocolate. These qualities make Guji coffees some of the most sought-after in the specialty market, offering a cup that is both vibrant and balanced.
