DATE: Art Nouveau, c.1890 A charming Art Nouveau headpiece/tiara, modelled in silver throughout and gorgeously decorated with ivy leaves. Antique jewellery often includes floral motifs, as part of their "Language of Flowers", whereby each flower or plant represented some romantic or emotional sentiment... In this case, the ivy leaf represents marriage and fidelity, often associated with the words "I Cling To Thee". The leaves vary in size along the head, and each end comes to a point with silver work that wraps around itself.
