HISTORIA DE PANAMA III : ISLA CONTADORA Info: 66 x 96 cm, watercolour and pencil on paper Contadora Island in Panama has a rich history that dates back to pre-Columbian times. Once known for its lucrative pearl catching industry, the island also played an important role in the political history of Central America as the site of the failed Contadora Process peace negotiations. Additionally, the island gained international attention when the Shah of Iran was granted political asylum and briefly lived there. By stacking them vertically, and with the use of symbolic animals, this piece aims to narrate those three events that marked the small island.
