It has a less pointed acidity than we usually find in Kenyan coffees and is nicely balanced with a clean profile and low savoriness. We taste a lot of dried fruit, specifically raisin, combined with a syrupy body, darker caramel flavors, and a nice hint of citrus. All these elements combine to make a sweet cup that is an excellent daily driver kind of coffee It comes from the Gathaithi Factory, operated by Gathaithi Farmers Cooperative Society, which has more than 1100 active members. Because the majority of coffee farmers in Kenya own between 1/8-1/4 a hectare of land, most deliver coffee in cherry form to a local factory for sorting and processing; at the factory, the deliveries are blended and processed into day lots comprising the day's deliveries. This coffee was selected out as a microlot on the basis of cup score.
