The Squid Gang Print , featuring a vibrant Japanese sea life crew , has been created using archival ink on matt Hahnemühle paper. Japonism became hugely popular in the 1870`s influencing artists and designers throughout Europe. The Floating World or Ukiyo-e genre flourished, with artists producing work portraying kabuki actors, sumo wrestlers, folk tales and landscapes. Many of the earliest works were created as monochromatic image. This Japanese Squid Gang Print in saturated colour is a striking, contemporary interpretation of this ancient art.
