Tibetan skull cap, bone and silver - 19th century

This traditional Tibetan bowl consists of a carved skullcap covered with a layer of pure silver. Used in esoteric Buddhist rituals, this bowl would hold offerings. Wine could also be drunk from it to symbolize the blood of vanquished demons. Small silver skulls adorn the rim of the Kapala.
