Class 45 - BR Blue - D50

D50 The King’s Shropshire Light Infantry (BR SYP Economy Blue) Continuing the transition from BR Green to BR’s Corporate Image, D50 carries the distinctive early Rail Blue livery with small yellow warning panels applied to a limited number of Class 45s during the mid-1960s. While the main body colour had changed to blue, many details from the green era remained, creating a fascinating hybrid appearance that was relatively short-lived. Ideal for the second half of the 1960s, D50 works equally well alongside late BR Green and early BR Blue stock. During the period represented, it was based at Toton and worked a wide variety of traffic, from premier passenger services to freight and mineral trains. Named in May 1965 after the British Army regiment of the same name, D50 was one of 26 military-named Class 45s.
