WeConfort - Cannabis Sativa WeConfort® is a complementary compound feed for dogs and cats developed for nutritional support of sensory function and to promote general well-being, particularly in controlling processes related to pain and inflammation. The 3 main ingredients: Cannabis sativa (Hemp Oil) EPA 70% Concentrate (Omega 3) Harpago WeConfort® is indicated in different situations: Geriatric animals, where there is a deficit in sensory functions; Animals presenting with processes leading to chronic pain states; Animals exposed to conditions of high oxidative stress; Animals showing chronic states of tiredness or fatigue; All chronic pain situations associated with osteoarthritis, especially those only controlled with anti-inflammatories. Chronic Pain Conditions The most common causes of chronic pain include, among others, the following main conditions: Osteoarthritis (OA). Neoplasia and cancer-related therapy (e.g., chemotherapy-induced neuropathy, radiation-induced skin burns). Persistent Post-Surgical Pain (e.g., limb or tail amputation, thoracotomy, onychectomy). Oral and periodontal disease (e.g., gingivitis, periodontitis, stomatitis, FOPS). Gastrointestinal disease (e.g., inflammatory bowel disease, megacolon, constipation, pancreatitis, cholangiohepatitis). Ophthalmic disease (e.g., corneal disease, uveitis, ulcers). Urogenital disease (e.g., interstitial cystitis, chronic kidney disease). Dermatological disease (e.g., otitis, severe pruritus, burns, chronic wounds). Diabetes-induced neuropathy. Hyperesthesia syndrome. Daily Dosage Animals up to 8 kg: 1 capsule every other day. Animals from 8 to 16 kg: 1 capsule/day. Animals from 16 to 40 kg: 2 capsules/day. Animals over 40 kg: 3 capsules/day. WeConfort® can be administered directly into the mouth or the capsule's contents placed on the animal's food. Store in a dry place in the original packaging at a temperature below 25°C. Protect from light and heat. Keep out of reach and sight of children. Properties Cannabis Sativa – Hemp Oil Hemp Oil contains cannabidiol (CBD) with modulating activity on the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). In situations of pain associated with inflammation or hyperalgesia, exogenous cannabinoids, such as CBD, produce different levels of analgesia. In addition to all the functions associated with the Endocannabinoid System, Hemp Oil has a high concentration of essential fatty acids, acting as a powerful antioxidant. Harpagophytum procumbens WeConfort® contains a Concentrated Dry Extract of Harpagophytum procumbens, resulting from the elimination of "impurities" and concentration of the active nutraceutical molecule. It has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, particularly in the treatment of painful joint manifestations. Studies indicate that it can inhibit both pathways of arachidonic acid metabolism, the cyclooxygenase (COX) pathway and the lipoxygenase (LOX) pathway, reducing the production of eicosanoids such as prostaglandins. Regarding the inhibition of the COX pathway, harpagophytum appears to specifically inhibit COX-2, but not COX-1, which may explain its high tolerance and reduced side effects, unlike older NSAIDs that inhibit non-specific isoforms of the enzyme. Omega 3 (70% EPA Concentrate) Currently, through technological processes, it is possible to separate the different substances that constitute Omega 3, namely Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA). Recent studies associate DHA with supporting degenerative processes, while EPA is linked to different metabolic processes where the inflammatory component is critical. EPA supplementation demonstrates positive effects on lipid metabolism, suppression of body fat accumulation, reduction of insulin resistance, and hepatic steatosis. EPA administration promotes the synthesis of anti-inflammatory eicosanoids, such as prostaglandin PG-3 and Leukotriene LT-5, and reduces the synthesis of other highly inflammatory eicosanoids.
