"DREW'S DREAM" Vintage art from 1997, re-released in 2026! This artwork was originally painted by Drew on masonite and was the first artwork printed on Lost Surfboard tee shirts. Drew is re-releasing this work as part of his 30 Years of Surf Art Celebration. THE FIRST 25 Canvas and paper prints sold will be hand-signed and numbered by Drew Brophy himself. After that, all prints will be open edition, unsigned. ABOUT THE ART: Drew says of the story behind DREW'S DREAM art: "I never had formal art training, but I always had a wild imagination. As a kid, my mom let me crayon all over my bedroom walls. I’d draw giant battles with dinosaurs, soldiers, trains, and spaceships flying through imaginary worlds. I was inspired by the things around me — National Geographic magazines, my sister Julie’s record collection, and my brother’s surf magazines. The artwork by Rick Griffin, Frank Frazetta, Bill Ogden, and Jim Phillips had a huge impact on me long before I knew who they were. When I first started painting, I wasn’t very good. I had no training — mostly I just made giant messes on surfboards, usually my own. But creativity ran in the family, and I just kept painting. This piece that I’m re-releasing now, called “Drew’s Dream,” wasn’t painted technically well, but the killer ideas were there. Somehow it became one of the first images used on a Lost Surfboards t-shirt. Thousands of surfboards and canvases later, I slowly got better by painting on anything I could get my hands on.
