Nymph of Weightless Grounds by Natalija Rushidi is a wearable artwork that explores the idea of the body suspended between presence and absence. The garment moves beyond conventional clothing, existing as a sculptural form that hovers around the body rather than enclosing it. The base structure of the top and skirt is constructed by machine, while the surrounding elements are meticulously hand-sewn. Recycled rubber pieces—cut, shaped, and painted by hand—create fragmented surfaces that appear to float around the wearer. These suspended forms interact with negative space, allowing air, movement, and light to become part of the composition. The result is a piece that challenges gravity and traditional garment structure. Weight becomes illusion, form becomes suggestion, and the wearer becomes a participant in the artwork’s shifting balance between tension and fragility.
