NOBBY

NOBBY is made entirely from undyed wool. Nothing in the colour comes out of a dye bath — every shade is blended from fleece in its natural state, which is why the ten colours read as soft, slightly variegated naturals rather than flat solids, and why no two square metres look exactly alike. It is a substantial carpet: 60oz (2040gsm) of three ply yarn in a chunky 10mm loop on a wide 1/2 inch gauge. That combination is soft and resilient at the same time — there is real give underfoot, and the heavy loop springs back rather than matting down. Skipping the dyeing stage also cuts the water and energy that go into making it. Wool does the rest: warmth in winter, sound absorbed rather than echoed, airborne dust trapped in the pile instead of circulating, and natural flame and stain resistance without a chemical coating. NOBBY tests at greater than 7 kW/m² critical radiant flux under ISO 9239.1. Ten colours, all named after seeds and spices: Sesame, Flaxseed, Elderflower, Oat, Pepita, Whitepepper, Fennel, Poppy, Aniseed and Nigella. Supplied in a 4 metre width, and backed by a 20 year residential wear warranty, a 10 year insect warranty and a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defect.
