Caroline Morey’s Chambrées is an exceptional showcase of village-level Chassagne, crafted from an average vine age of at least 40 years. This year sees an interesting shift in the lineup; Caroline assembled all her lieu-dits together - including Le Chêne, Les Masures and La Bergerie - along with some new vines taken on en-fermage for this vintage. Every single parcel was vinified separately before blending, allowing her to micromanage the tension and fruit profile of each site before locking in the final master blend. In the glass, it shows a pretty, pale lemon and lime colour. The bouquet is remarkably refined, completely dodging any heavy, blocky characteristics to focus entirely on elegance. True to the 2023 vintage profile, it is a lighter, highly transparent style of white Burgundy that is just plain fun to drink, showing a delicate, perfumed nose that isn't overly dominated by hard reduction at this stage. The palate delivers great style and restraint, balanced by a sneaky layer of old-vine generosity that punches well above standard AC expectations. It is nuanced, carrying crisp orchard fruit and an incredibly clean line of acidity.
