"This species grows from sea level, at waters edge up to 300m altitude and is most common in dense stands close to the sea in soils derived from calcarenite. It is a tall feather palm with a graceful crown of spreading leaves, drooping leaflets and the petioles are slightly shorter than those of Howea Belmoreana. The slender trunk is around 150mm in diameter and up to 25m tall."
