Scandanavian Style Belt Axe

Scandanavian axes are known by the lugs protecting the handle and the pronounced sweep of the bit. Love 'em. So we tried our hand at making a small one of them. Ours has a 1.25# 1045 U.S. steel head hung on a 16" Maine ash handle that we turned in our shop on our 135 year old Ober duplicating lathe. We darkened the handle with a pine pitch finish. Comes with a Maine made leather sheath.
