Perlite 100L - Jumbo

Perlite is a staple in almost every potting media, helping to improve drainage, increase airflow around the roots and stop your mix from becoming too dense or compacted. Jumbo Perlite is my personal preference and what I use in my own chunky aroid mix here at Elusive Plants. The larger pieces help keep the mix nice and open, creating plenty of air pockets around the roots while still being lightweight and easy to mix with other substrates like bark, coco chips and other mix components. It’s especially great for aroids and other indoor plants that love a well-draining, airy mix, and is one of those ingredients I always like to have on hand. Why use Jumbo Perlite? • Improves aeration – The chunky pieces create air pockets throughout your mix, giving roots plenty of room to breathe. • Improves drainage – Helps excess water move through the potting media and reduces the chance of your mix staying soggy for too long. • Keeps mixes open – Helps prevent potting media from compacting over time and keeps a nice loose structure around the roots. • Lightweight – Adds plenty of structure and chunkiness without adding unnecessary weight to your pots. • pH neutral – Won’t significantly alter the pH of your potting media. If you grow aroids, Jumbo Perlite is definitely one of those basics worth keeping around. I use it constantly and it’s an essential part of the chunky mix I use for my own plants at Elusive Plants.
