Woodluxe All-In-One Wood Cleaner - Benjamin Moore

Woodluxe® All-In-One Wood Cleaner (K018) is the maintenance cleaner — the one you use on every deck job. It removes dirt and the staining left by mould, mildew, algae and standing water, back to a surface stain can actually bond to. This is the step most people skip, and it's why their stain fails early. Staining over a dirty or contaminated surface means the finish is gripping debris rather than wood. It looks fine for a season, then lets go. It isn't only for wood — Benjamin Moore also lists it for vinyl, stucco, concrete, pavers, brick and fibreglass. How to use it Dilute. Maximum 7:1 water to cleaner. One gallon makes up to eight gallons of working solution. For a normal job, mix half a can with 3½ cans of water; for stubborn areas, half a can to 2½ cans of water. Apply liberally with a plastic garden sprayer, brush, or a power washer chemical injector. On vertical surfaces work bottom to top. Let it stand several minutes. Agitate with a stiff bristle brush along the grain, then rinse with a hose or power washer. Let it dry thoroughly before any finish goes on. Never mix in a metal container, and never combine it with other cleaners or chemicals. Pre-wet surrounding plants and move metal furniture and fixtures out of the way — they can tarnish. Heavily greyed wood? The cleaner alone won't bring it back. Benjamin Moore specifies Woodluxe Wood Restorer (K016) for that.
