Kintsugi Cup "Shushinjaku" 01 distills the Shushin-jaku concept into an intimate vessel, where scarlet luster and golden kintsugi lines transform the marks of breakage into a new visual language. Taku Nakano intentionally fractures the ceramic after firing, then gives the individual pieces distinct character through additional treatments and firing before bringing them together again. The repaired lines remain visible as part of the cup’s identity. Created through his Okunodoi Method, the work reflects a quiet philosophy of resilience: the scar is not a defect to erase, but part of what makes the vessel more beautiful.
