Honda WT40 4 Inch Trash Pump, 423 GPM with GX390 Power The WT40 is Honda’s largest gas pump: a 4 inch trash pump moving up to 423 gallons per minute, powered by the 389 cc GX390, the most powerful single in Honda’s GX range. It is built for big dewatering jobs, such as large excavations, flooded construction sites, cofferdams and storm cleanup, where the volume of water and debris would overwhelm a smaller pump. Volume That Saves Hours At 423 gal/min, the WT40 moves roughly a third more water than the WT30. On a large flooded site, that difference can be measured in hours of pump time and fuel. Like the WT30, it passes solids up to 1 1/16 inch. Built to Run Unattended Oil Alert stops the engine if oil runs low, important on a pump left running between site checks. A 1.6 gallon tank gives 1.5 hours at full discharge. The cast iron volute with replaceable stainless wear plate, conical cast iron impeller and silicon carbide seal faces are designed for abrasive water. WT40 Technical Summary Capacity 423 gal/min; 4 in ports; solids to 1 1/16 in Engine Honda GX390, 389 cc Total head 82 ft; suction lift 26 ft; maximum 36 psi Priming time 150 seconds at 16.4 ft Size 28.9 x 21.1 x 22.2 in; dry weight 172 lb Warranty: 2 years residential, 1 year commercial Moving a 172 Pound Pump The full frame provides lifting and tie-down points, but 172 lb is a machine for a truck crane, a loader or at least two people. Position it on firm, level ground near the water, keeping the suction hose as short as practical. Service Access A quick clean-out port and Honda’s supplied service tool make clearing debris and removing the pump case straightforward on site. Isolation mounts reduce vibration and wear. Smaller Trash Pumps The WT30 handles the same size solids at 317 gal/min and 134 lb, for jobs that do not need the WT40’s full volume.
