1895-O (VG08) Barber Half Dollar 50C PCGS
This 1895-O Barber Half Dollar, graded VG08 by PCGS, was struck at the New Orleans Mint during a decade when Barber-design silver coinage circulated widely across the South and West. Charles Barber's design, featuring a laureated Liberty head on the obverse and a heraldic eagle on the reverse, replaced the Seated Liberty series and remained in production for a quarter century. New Orleans half dollars from this era are collected both for their mintmark and for the branch mint's role in regional post-Reconstruction commerce. A Very Good example shows honest, well-circulated wear consistent with decades of use. A nice building block for a Barber half dollar collection or New Orleans Mint specialty set.
