Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Douglas Laing 70cl / 49.7% A very impressive old Caperdonich from Douglas Laing’s Xtra Old Particular range, distilled in October 1992 and bottled in September 2023 after 30 years of maturation. Caperdonich was established opposite Glen Grant in Rothes in 1898, originally under the name Glen Grant No. 2. After a lengthy period of closure it returned to production in 1965, eventually taking the Caperdonich name before closing permanently in 2002. The distillery was subsequently dismantled, making its increasingly scarce surviving stocks a fascinating part of Speyside whisky history. This 30-year-old was matured in a refill hogshead and bottled from a single cask, DL18182, yielding just 281 bottles at a natural cask strength of 49.7%. Released as part of Douglas Laing’s premium XOP Black series, it was bottled without colouring or chill filtration. An impressive opportunity to try mature whisky from one of Scotland's lost Speyside distilleries.
