Built to order in America, the Mercer Corner Wedge by Stanley Furniture is cut on an angle, 52 inches on each side, so the two runs splay outward instead of meeting at a hard 90 degrees. Everyone on the sectional faces roughly the same way, toward the fireplace or the screen, and the corner seat itself is wider and easier to get into. The low back follows the angle without a break. Craftsman-built frame of kiln-dried hardwood, primarily solid alder, corner-blocked and reinforced with glue, staples and screws, so the curve stays true. Arched 8.5-gauge sinuous springs with double tie-wires deliver quiet, no-sag support in every seat. Seat and back cushions wrap a high-density foam core in a feather-locked envelope of Trillium gel-blown fiber: the softness of down, hypoallergenic and feather-free, so they soften in without going flat.
