A crossover, or at the very least a capacitor in series: full range straight from the amplifier will destroy the voice coil in seconds. This is not optional. Cross it high and check the manual. A horn tweeter is meant for the top of the band only. Use the minimum crossover frequency printed in the factory sheet and never go below it — and if you are not sure, write to us before you power it up. Do not go below 4 ohm. Four ohm is the minimum impedance of this tweeter: wiring two in parallel on one channel takes the amplifier to 2 ohm and it will heat up or go into protection. 111.2 dB means you need less gain, not more. This is the most efficient tweeter we sell: attenuate it, aim it slightly off-axis and stop before the amplifier clips. Clipping kills tweeters, power rarely does. 08Questions installers ask Is the price for one or for a pair?For one. The SP TW 06 is sold as a single unit: add two to the cart for a stereo front. How much power does it handle?80 W RMS continuous and 150 W peak. With 111.2 dB of sensitivity you will rarely use it all. Do I really need a crossover?Yes. A tweeter must always run behind a crossover or at least a series capacitor. Sending it full range is the single fastest way to burn it. What is it made of?A die-cast aluminium frame, which keeps the horn rigid and helps dissipate heat. What impedance is it?4 ohm minimum. Never put it on a load lower than that.
