Hydrophyllum virginianum-Virginia Waterleaf
Virginia Waterleaf has deeply lobed dark green leaves that, early in the season, bear silvery white splashes that resemble water drops. In the spring, tall stems rise above the distinctive foliage and boast eye catching spherical clusters of pale purple flowers, each in the shape of a bell with five protruding stamens. These flowers are visited by a great number of bee species as well as other pollinators. Spreads via rhizome to form a colony and is also self-seeding, such that it can make a strong ground cover.
