Team Apache, the powerhouse offshore racing outfit founded in the 1980s by Bob Saccenti and Ben Kramer, roared onto the scene with a mission to dominate the high-stakes world of powerboat competition, leveraging Apache Powerboats’ cutting-edge designs. The team’s breakthrough came in 1984 when their 41-foot Apache Warpath, piloted by Kramer with Saccenti on throttles and Tom Evans navigating, clinched the American Power Boat Association World Championship in Key West, cementing their reputation for fearless performance in punishing conditions. Riding this success, they debuted the triple-engine Apache 47' in 1986, but the team’s momentum stalled in 1987 when Kramer’s arrest on drug-related charges led to federal seizures of key assets, including boats and Fort Apache Marina.
