Description Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Marble’ is a variegated cultivar of Epipremnum pinnatum valued for its marbled foliage and vigorous climbing habit. The leaves display irregular splashes, mottling, and marbling of creamy white, pale yellow, and green across the surface, creating a highly decorative pattern. Each leaf is unique, with some showing light speckling while others develop larger sectoral patches of variegation. Juvenile leaves are typically narrow and lance-shaped with a smooth margin. As the plant matures and climbs, the foliage becomes significantly larger and begins to develop the characteristic deep splits and fenestrations typical of mature Epipremnum pinnatum. The marbled variegation combined with the dramatic mature leaf form makes this cultivar particularly desirable for collectors and interior plant displays. Because the variegation reduces chlorophyll in the foliage, growth may be slower than the standard green form, and strong light is important to maintain good colour and vigour. Care Plan Light Bright, indirect light is ideal. Adequate light helps maintain strong variegation and encourages larger foliage. Avoid harsh direct sunlight which may scorch the pale variegated areas. Watering Allow the top 3–5 cm of the potting mix to dry slightly between watering. Water thoroughly and ensure excess water drains freely, as overly wet soil can lead to root rot. Humidity Prefers moderate to high humidity (50–80%), though it adapts well to normal indoor conditions if watering and airflow are balanced. Temperature Thrives in warm conditions between 18–30 °C. Avoid temperatures below 15 °C and protect from cold drafts. Soil / Potting Mix Use a well-aerated aroid mix that retains moisture while draining freely. A mix containing orchid bark, perlite, coco coir or peat, and quality potting mix works well. Fertiliser Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength every 3–4 weeks during active growth in spring and summer. Reduce feeding during cooler months. Growth Habit A vigorous climbing vine. Providing a moss pole, totem, or trellis encourages larger leaves and the development of fenestrations.
