30cm Makigane Carpenter's Square

The Makigane is a thick, sturdy square that stays rigid. Made from 2.5mm thick stainless steel, the Makigane makes an excellent reference square. It has been heat-treated for strength and is strong enough to keep it's shape through a few knocks. Of course, we wouldn't recommend you set out to harm your square, but if you're rough on your tool and would like to try a Japanese square, this is the one we'd pick. Both front and back faces are marked in centimetres with Shinwa's excellent matte-finish hard chrome coating that allows for easier reading of your marks. This square is made to JIS specifications, meaning that it's tolerance to square deviates by no more than 0.1mm over 100mm. Long arm length: 30cm Short arm length: 15cm
