Brutalist 14KY gold and cultured pearl Arthur King ring
Description : Arthur King was a fascinating individual who was born in 1921. After being injured in Navy in WWII, he found his true calling in the jewelry industry. He loved to contradict the normal concepts of jewelry and embraced the idea of 'Brutalist' design, which rebelled against the idea of fine jewelry and redefined jewelry as an avant-garde fine art. In the jewelry world he is comparable to Dali and Picasso. He opened a shop in the 1950's on 4th Street in Greenwich Village in NYC. Today his work is revered, and has become highly collectable as there is only a finite amount of pieces yet available. This organic 14KY gold ring forms sensuous strands of gold woven around 3 various size cultured pearls that are held with prongs. He loved pearls and used them in many of his designs. One pearl has been replaced. Size 5 Item Number : P11570 Category : RING Brand : CF Attributes Material : Cultured pearls 14KY gold Style : Brutalist designer Arthur King
