L'Artisan Middle-East
L'Artisan Middle-East Dear friends, Some watches mark coordinates on a map. Others carry entire civilisations on their dial. This piece began not with a sketch but with a sheet of raw steel, a region close to my heart, and a question: what if a watch could hold an entire world within the space of 38 millimetres? Born from a Connection The Middle East has never been a distant place for me. It is a region I have come to know through years of friendship, collaboration, and trust through partners across the Gulf who welcomed L'Artisan as a brand. Through evenings spent talking about craft, culture, and what it means to make something that endures. It was those conversations and those people that planted the seed for this watch. This dial is my answer to everything they represent. A tribute, made in steel, to a part of the world that has shaped who L'Artisan is becoming. A Dial Carved from Nothing The dial of the L'Artisan Middle-East does not come from a supplier. It does not come from a catalogue. It comes from a flat, unnamed sheet of steel rough and entirely unmarked. Every contour you see was engraved entirely in-house. Every border, every coastline, every ridge and valley that gives the Middle East its unmistakable shape raised from the metal, layer by layer, until geography became sculpture. The result is a 3D engraved map of the Middle East unlike anything that exists in watchmaking. Not printed. Not applied. Carved. The Weight of a Region The Middle East is one of the oldest inhabited territories on Earth. It is the birthplace of writing, of agriculture, of the first cities. Civilisations rose and fell across these lands long before anyone thought to measure time with a mechanical instrument. The Details The case is 38mm stainless steel, the same architecture that defines every piece in the L'Artisan collection proportioned for the wrist, not for the display case. The domed sapphire crystal sits above the dial with the same elegance it always has. Beneath the caseback, a micro-rotor automatic movement turns. The hands are white clean against the raw topography of the dial, easy to read without interrupting what lies beneath them. The strap is beige suede. Soft. Warm. A deliberate choice the colour of desert sand, of ancient stone, of the earth itself in the region carved into the dial above it.
