An easy-to-grow and highly versatile vegetable. Popular Asian greens for stir-fries, sautés, soups and steamed dishes. It’s excellent for continuous sowings throughout the seasons, but should not be sown too early in cool areas to avoid bolting. It is suited to warm temperatures and grows best in mild climates. Fast growing when well watered and composted. This compact plant can be harvested as early as 40 days from sowing. Also known as Bok Choy. SOWING: Spring – Autumn Sow Direct, or Transplant Pak Choi seeds are best sown in spring through autumn. Seeds can be sown in trays for transplanting, or directly in place approx. 10cm apart when soil temperatures are between 10°c – 25°c. 10°c - 25°c 7 - 12 days Transplant seedlings, or thin directly sown seeds, once plants have several true leaves to a final spacing of approx. 10cm – 20cm. By spacing your initial sowing relatively densely, you can harvest entire young plants and leave the strongest to grow to maturity at approx. 20cm apart. 10cm - 20cm 40 - 60 days Hardy TIPS: It can be successfully grown year round as it has excellent cold tolerance. The plants are fast growing, low maintenance, strong and disease resistant. If sowing close to winter, transplanting can work well for allowing plants to get underway without experiencing significant losses from bug attacks.
