FLUORITE
When it comes to remote localities for Fluorite crystals Zarembo Island, Wrangell City and Bourough, Alaska must be up there as one of them. Most of the few specimens seen from there were collected in the 1980s or earlier and always show small colourless to pale greenish octahedral crystals generally sparsely scattered on a finely crystallized Quartz matrix. This large miniature specimen comes from Arvid Pasto's famous Fluorite collection but we don't know when he obtained it. Upon it small (up to 4 mm across), but really sharp, perfect octahedral colourless Fluorite crystals sit on a thin bed of Quartz microcrystals in a vein cutting through host rock. Although the Fluorite crystals are small this is a really lovely example from this rarely seen island occurrence in Alaska.
