Silver hammered band ring with garnet
This ring brought me back to where it all started. A small 3mm almandine garnet, set simply on a hammered silver band. It’s a straightforward design, but one that lets the stone quietly do its thing. Garnets come in all sorts of colours and varieties, but this particular type is native to the UK — the kind I used to find not far from my previous home in Scotland. I hadn’t worked with them for a while, but making this ring reminded me why I liked them so much in the first place. It’s a solid little ring with a nice weight to it, and one that stacks easily with others. This ring is currently a size M but can be made to order in any size. This piece is part of my 52 Ring Project, a personal challenge inspired by rediscovering a long-forgotten collection of gemstones. After moving to Dorset, I unpacked two boxes of stones that had remained untouched for several years — some of which I have owned for over fifteen years. After carefully sorting and organising them by type, size and colour, I decided to bring them back into use by creating one ring each week over the course of a year. Each ring in the collection is made using a different gemstone, giving every piece its own character and story.
