A peaceful spiny eel with beautiful eye-spot markings and an inquisitive personality The Peacock Eel is a fascinating freshwater species known for its elongated body and distinctive peacock-like eye spots near the tail. Its elegant patterning, combined with its snake-like movement, makes it a unique and captivating addition to tropical aquariums. Naturally shy but curious, Peacock Eels spend much of their time exploring the substrate and hiding among driftwood, plants, and caves. They thrive in aquariums with soft sand, as they love to burrow and partially bury themselves. Peaceful by nature, they can be kept with similarly sized community fish but may eat very small tankmates. With proper care, they become interactive and often learn to recognise feeding time.
