A former shearer and small business owner, Robb turned to painting after health challenges and has since sold works across Australia and internationally. Entirely self-taught, his art captures the stories, spirit and characters of life in the WA Goldfields. About the Artwork This work draws on key Aboriginal cultural symbols and stories: Kangaroo – An iconic totem animal, central to First Nations culture as a food source and in ceremony and Dreaming stories. For many Aboriginal people, Kangaroo Dreaming reflects deep kinship ties and spiritual connection to ancestors and family. Goanna – The Protector – Often a Creator spirit in Dreamtime, the goanna appears in teachings about behaviour, hunting and respect for Country. RainbowSerpent – A powerful life-giving spirit associated with water and rain. The Rainbow Serpent lives in waterholes and travels underground or in storm clouds, bringing rain and renewal—or, if disrespected, drought and destructive floods. Waterhole – Sacred places in the desert, each with its own Creation story and custodians. Waterholes sustain life and map clan estates, holding deep knowledge of Country, seasons and resources. Through strong colour and storytelling, Robb’s painting celebrates resilience, connection to land and the enduring power of Aboriginal culture—making it a striking and meaningful addition to any collection.
