Matcha Bowl - Matchawan Nepu
Matchawan is an important element of the Japanese tea ceremony and, at the same time, a beautiful vessel that will decorate any kitchen. The Nepu bowl, with its colors resembling a dense forest, is a favorite of all those who appreciate beautiful ceramics. The dark green fades gently to lighter shades, reaching the light rim of the vessel. Shaped in form And then processed by hand, the bowl took on slightly irregular shapes. The vessel was manufactured in Toki on the island of Honshu, in the Oroshi district famous for firing traditional Shino pottery characterized by its technique and glazing. The wide bottom makes it very easy to mash up matcha with water or milk. Later, all you need to do is enjoy the taste and effects of matcha tea. Matcha preparation in a bowl The traditional way to prepare matcha comes from the Japanese Tea Ceremony. It involves using a matcha bowl, a bamboo whisk- chasen and a bamboo spoon- chashaku. Place 2 chashaku spoons of matcha (1,5g) in a matcha bowl and pour 100ml of hot water (80 °C). Chasen in hand, vigorously whisk your matcha from the wrist in m-shaped, not circular, motion. In about 20 seconds your bowl should be filled with a perfect jade-green foam. You can add more water now if you like your matcha to be less strong. Watch how Hitomi Saito, cofounder of Moya Matcha, prepares perfect matcha.
