Wool Khadi Twill Stripe Brown
This Indian wool tweed is a unique, traditionally woven fabric in which every stage is done by hand using local resources. The artisanal process generates no waste and doesn’t use any chemicals or electricity. The making of these fabrics is part of a sustainable and socio-responsible initiative, set up to support and promote artisanal crafts, in which the process is entirely run & operated by the women of the Himachal Pradesh tribe. These wools are made from the hair if Gaddi sheep. The sheep are sheered, and the hair is sorted into colours before being spun on a wheel called a Charkha. These yarns are then woven into fabric lengths on a hand operated loom, are softened through the process of washing with soapnut, and then felted by hand to achieve these dense and crinkled twill wool fabrics. 100% wool, 90cm wide. Approx. 325gsm. Thread match suggestion: 4801
