Antique French Jardinière

Found at market in France, this magnificent Antique French Jardinière by De Bruyn beautifully captures the flowing naturalism and romantic spirit of the Art Nouveau era. Richly modeled and lushly glazed, the piece is adorned with blooming pink flowers and curling green leaves that seem almost to unfurl across the surface, framed by elegant organic lines characteristic of the period. The deep olive-green glaze lends the jardinière wonderful depth and drama, while the softly shaded pink blossom at the center creates a striking focal point against the richly saturated background. Raised floral and foliate decoration wraps around the body, with the sculptural contours and whiplash curves recalling the movement and vitality so beloved by Art Nouveau designers at the turn of the century. The impressed underside mark identifies the piece as the work of De Bruyn, the noted ceramic manufactory founded in Fives-Lille in northern France during the 19th century.
